How do I guarantee I get the cut that I want?
By purchasing the earlier cuts (positions, 1, 2, 3, etc.) you ensure yourself the opportunity to cut from a complete (or relatively complete) show. As more people cut from the show, fewer options remain and your chances of getting specific pieces decline. Later cuts (positions 49, 50, 51, etc. ) allow less opportunity to select a specific portion. Price is linked to selection order. As the selection dwindles, so does the price.
I can’t be there the night of the show; can I still purchase a cut?
No problem. LUCEO will be bringing a surrogate cutter who will step in for you to help make your selection. We’ve affectionately named the surrogate Vandal White. Vandal has excellent taste, so you are in good hands. You can also choose to send your own representative instead. If you elect to have Vandal cut on your behalf (or you do not show up the night of the show), we will be pleased to package and ship your cut to your provided shipping address.
What are the print specifications?
Cuts are a maximum size of 24” in length by 24” in height and must be taken as continuous pieces using no more than one vertical cut. Fragmented Cuts are a total of 24” in length by 24” in height and are not guaranteed to be continuous. That means that you may leave with several strips that account for a total of 24”. All prints are printed on Somerset Velvet for Epson Photo Paper (100% cotton/19mil/255 gsm) with Epson ink to exacting archival specifications.
I want to frame my print; will there be sufficient margin space to accommodate framing?
There will ample margin (white) space on the top and bottom of each cut to accommodate framing. As the cuts will be made from continuous strips, the printed image will span to the edges on either side.
How will cuts be made?
Cuts will be made live at the show with a pair of scissors by you. Cuts must be vertical and straight. Cutters may take no more than 24” of print from the wall.
I don’t understand the difference between a Cut and a Fragmented Cut. Can you explain?
The Simple Answer: Continuous Cuts are guaranteed to allow each cutter a continuous 24” x 24” portion of the show. Fragmented cuts may not necessarily afford every cutter a continuous 24” x 24” piece, but will allow them to piece together strips of what remains on the wall.
The Explanation: We had NASA help us with the math on this and, after a few runs through their supercomputers, we determined that, given all the possible cut combinations, we can only guarantee that 48 people can receive continuous print portions of 24” x 24 “. After the first 48 cuts, fragments of less than 24” will remain hanging. We believe these cuts are important and integral to the expression of the show and will be selling Fragmented Cuts allowing these latter cutting positions the opportunity to cut from these pieces as part of that expression.
